Laigo completed a 4-page folder “Vahi põllevtöökool” commissioned by the Tartu Estonian Agricultural Society. The school was located near Tartu.

Studied at the Higher School of Art “Pallas” from 1922 to 1927, graduating as a student of N. Triik and P. Aren. He continued his studies in Paris in 1929, 1936–37 and 1939. From 1937 he worked as a graphics teacher at “Pallas”. At first he created oil paintings in a cubist style, depicting bathers, musicians, city views, etc. From 1933 he mainly worked in wood engraving, becoming a notable master of tone engraving. He also worked in book and consumer graphics. A recognized author of ex libris. The block graphic sheets and bookplates are grouped in folders, including a series of colored woodcuts.
