Военная галерея 1812 года. Издано по повелению Государя Императора 1812 – 1912 is a luxurious edition containing an exclusive collection of portraits from the Russian Patriotic War of 1812. Created under the command of the Emperor, the gallery consists of 329 portraits of war heroes, meticulously executed by the renowned English portrait artist George Dawe. Each portrait measures 11.4×9.8 cm and is framed in a golden ornamental border. Four large full-length portraits of key figures of the time, including Emperor Alexander I, are also included, alongside two grand views of the military gallery. All the artwork, except Emperor Alexander I’s portrait by Kruger, was created by Dawe, who was specially invited to St. Petersburg for this purpose. Accompanying the portraits, the book contains detailed service lists and a brief overview of the battlefield feats and awards of each depicted personage. This exquisite and rare edition, not meant for sale, is housed in a decorative green binding adorned with gold, silver, and colorful artistic embossing, and it weighs 8.5 kg. It stands as a testament to the historical legacy of a glorious era.
