Oil on plywood by August Pulst, “Kevadine aed” is a striking depiction of natural beauty, reflecting the landscapes, flowers, and old town views that were often the subject of Pulst’s work. Measuring 47.9 x 61.3 cm, this artwork exemplifies Pulst’s unique ethnographical touch. August Pulst’s education at Riga Art School (1911-15) under V. Purvitis, V. Tillbergs, and B. Borchert laid the foundation for his artistic expression. From 1915 to 1917, Pulst worked at the theatre “Estonia” as a decorator, and later, as a folklore collector. His contribution to founding several Estonian museums and his exhibitions since 1919 have left a significant mark on the art world.
