Ink and tempera on paper, this magnificent 20 x 29cm piece, “Harvesting Firewood (1940’s),” is a work by the renowned Arnold Peeter Vihvelin. The signature “P.A. Vihvelin” is found on the lower left, with “Palgiveol. P.A.Vihvelin” on the reverse. Arnold Vihvelin studied under eminent artists in Tartu and St. Petersburg and traveled to Vienna as a grant-aided student. His works were featured in numerous exhibitions across Estonia, Russia, Germany, and Finland, earning wide acclaim.
