Jaan Tuuling (1930 – 1998) was a renowned Estonian artist, best known for his oil on cardboard paintings. This particular piece, titled “Harku mandtee lähedal” (Near Harku Road), was created in 1956 and measures 12 x 14 cm. The artwork is signed on the back with a pencil – J. Tuuling 1956.a.  Arku randtee lähedal. This piece comes directly from the artist’s family collection. Tuuling graduated from the Estonian State Art Institute in 1961, specializing in painting. He worked as an art teacher in a Tallinn school with an art bias and also as an advertising poster artist. Jaan Tuuling was a member of the Estonian Art Fund and participated in several exhibitions both domestically and abroad. His works are highly valued and can be found predominantly in private collections worldwide, including in Sweden, Switzerland, Russia, France, Finland, and the United States.
