In 1963 – 67 studied at the Tskhinvali Art School, in 1971-76 – at the Estonian SSR State Art Institute. Lives and works in Tallinn. Member of the Estonian Artists’ Union, member of the Estonian Russian Artists’ Union. Has participated in republican and international exhibitions since 1975. Annual solo exhibitions have been held in galleries and exhibition halls in Estonia and abroad. Works are in private collections in the USA, Finland, Italy, France, Japan, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Russia and Estonia. “The works of Anatoly Strakhov, which virtuosoly create the impression of different materials and textures, balance on the strange border between conservatism and experiment, traditionalism and exoticism, expressive materiality and ephemerality, conceal elusive flickering textures and meanings, never fully revealing themselves.” Has appeared in more than 30 solo and group exhibitions.
